Dodgeball Part Two
January 17th, 2008 | by Daniel |So I’m in my second season playing dodgeball in the TCSSC league and this time around I registered a team myself. It’s my first time being captain/coach for any sort of sports team and I think it’ll be pretty interesting. Anyway, my dodgeball team, Duck Or I’ll Hit You In The Face played its first game last night against Kenny Dodgers.
We lost. 7 to 4.
But! I was really impressed with our performance, all things considered. Almost half of our team is totally new to dodgeball and we’re a pretty mixed bunch. We played much better than our team from last season and I think we’ve got some really solid potential.
I’m actually a little surprised with my enthusiasm for this game - I find it pretty hard to get into an activity that I really enjoy enough to keep at it consistently. I’ve tried all sorts of stuff, including running, weightlifting, hockey and boxing and nothing has really kept my attention for very long. Anyway, my new-found athleticism (!) led me to join a team and participate in a round-the-clock slopitch tournament at the Skydome this past weekend. I put on a terrible show and we lost all 3 of our games (including a bleary-eyed 5am game on Sunday), but it was just as well - I remembered why I never liked playing baseball.
Fortunately everyone on the team was cool, and our coach Mike ended up becoming the final addition to our dodgeball team. You did good last night Mike, at least better than I did during our softball tournament - but then again I set the bar pretty low didn’t I? ;)
