Nine Inch Nails Releases Free Album
March 3rd, 2008 | by Daniel |I’ve been listening to NIN on and off for the past 10+ years, but I haven’t really followed to many of his releases. They’ve just released Ghosts I-IV and I’m very excited because it’s (sorta) free.
Trent Reznor has been playing around with different types of releases in the past few years, sometimes even pissing off his record label in the process. I’m glad to see him doing something like this, taking the lead from Radiohead (though I don’t understand why they made the online version of the album only available for a limited time).
Since I’m not a really big fan of NIN I’ll be downloading the free version first. You get the first 9 tracks of the 36 song release. I’ll check it out and if I like it I’m going to go back and buy the $5 online version which includes the whole collection. There are several other options for the more die-hard NIN fan - I definitely want to support artists trying different approaches to making money from their work and I hope the experiment turns out to be a success.
