gaul du banque

My, how things move quickly in Vienna.

Had an interview yesterday to prepare the 12 year old son of a Doctor for his Grade 2 Conservatory exam in piano.  The problem is his exam is just over a month away and he hasn’t had a teacher in months.  The problem too is that I was planning on heading to Salzburg, then Innsbruck,  then Vorarlberg, to visit family and mountains and sights.  A bigger problem is that my TD bank card has yet to work at any ATM I’ve tried.  I spent half an hour on the phone yesterday with a TD supervisor who hadn’ t the foggiest idea why my card wasn’t working. “Just keep trying different ATMs”, was her advice.  Fucking banks.  If they’re not robbing you for hard-earned dollars by ridiculously inflated and meaningless service charges, they’re making it next to impossible to access your own funds.  But that’s what I have to do today.  I’m going to scour the city for an ATM that will give me my money, in which case I’ll be able to go for a shortened trip to Innsbruck, Fulmpes (Tirol) to visit family and to deliver my grandmother’s ashes.  If I can’t access my funds, I ain’t going nowhere and begin work next week.

Good luck with the atm hunting, Thomas. Dying to see more pics that you put up of your sightseeing. By the way, how’s the language barrier going? You picking up more vocab/fluency?
