Back Home

Well, I’m back home from Peru. We took the red-eye on Friday and got in at about 10am on Saturday. I wanted to do some posting during my actual trip but I didn’t have any internet access out there (thought I would). I’m going to be posting some pictures and stories over the next few days – just need a bit of time to get them all organized ;).

We had a great time, but I’m happy to be back home.

Leaving for Peru

Gotta make this one quick, I still have to finish packing my bags and we’re leaving in just over an hour!

We’re heading to Peru today and we’ll be back on April 5th. We’re going to spend some time with my family, go to a party for my dad’s 50th birthday and see Cusco and Machu Picchu. It’s going to be a pretty hectic trip but we’ve both been looking forward to it for months now and I’m super excited that Natalie is going meet my family down there.

I’m going to be taking lots of pictures along the way and I’m going to try to post them up here whenever I can.

See you in 10 days!

Oh My God, What The Fuck?

I’ve been making fun of my mom ever since she started using MSN because of the cheesy display names/taglines that she uses. You know what I’m talking about. Every MSN contact list has at least one… That person who insists on quoting the latest pop song or writing out some long-winded inspirational message. My mom is definitely one of those. She also likes to use all the internet jargon that she learns. Anyway, I almost crapped my pants just now when I logged into MSN because my mom actually used the term “OMGWTF” in her display name. OMGWTF, indeed.

Would anyone else find this weird or is it just me?

Debian and qmail

I spent about 8 hours yesterday and another 3 today setting qmail up on a Debian server of mine. This was my second time installing qmail (the first was on OpenBSD) and interestingly enough, it was way worse. I could end this post right now and say that even though qmail runs pretty nicely, setting it up is a major pain in the ass and Dan Bernstein is particularly evil for making an MTA that’s good enough that people will jump through fiery hoops in order to configure properly, but I’m hoping that my experience might be of value to someone else in the future, so I’ll continue.

Tropic Thunder

In the past year or so I’ve watched a surprising number of movies, and this summer looks like it might a few good ones too. I just got an e-mail from a friend telling me to check out the trailer for Ben Stiller’s new movie, Tropic Thunder. I’d heard about it briefly a little while ago but had no idea what it was about. It looks pretty frickin’ hilarious, and stars a few of my favorite actors – Jack Black is in it, and Robert Downey Jr. as well, who plays an overzealous method actor who goes a little overboard when it comes to getting into character (you’ll see what I mean). I’m looking forward this for sure.

Check out the trailer in HD.
